Star Stepping Table of Contents

Debbie Mumford has begun a series of interviews with her fellow authors of the Star Stepping anthology, which will be published though Wild Child Publishing on June 3rd.

I pop over to Debbie's blog regularly. Today I'm glad to have done so. The first interview I read reminded me of the reasons I enjoy a good SF story: the potential for an original idea; the ability to put human nature and an extraordinary situation together and see what happens; the ability to fantasize about the practical aspects of possible technology.

Do go over and meet Debbie and her fellow authors. This industrious lady has posted three interviews so far.

One Exciting Contest!

This message cross-posted from my personal blog... :-)

Today I bring you blatant self-promotion – I mean, a fun contest! For the next month, everyone who buys a copy of my novel Soul Haven can have a chance to win this fabulous prize package:

* A copy of Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark (lovely, shiny hardcover)
* A copy of Bad Press: The Worst Critical Reviews Ever! by Laura Ward (lovely, shiny hardcover)
* The Desk Toy Box from Office Playground, which includes 9 fun desk toys to distract you while you’re searching for that perfect word (and who wouldn’t want a bag of stretchy men?)

Interested? Here’s what you have to do to enter:

Step 1: Solve the riddle*

Find the answers to the following clues. Take the first letter of each answer, and unscramble the letters to form a word that is important in Soul Haven.

Clue #1: The type of Camaro that appears in A Nightmare on Elm Street: The TV Series

Clue #2: A genre style pioneered by Dashiell Hammet; the word translates to “black”

Clue #3: The real first name of the character Nanny Ogg (one of three witches) in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series

Clue #4: An Outer God from H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, first appearing in his novella The Case of Charles Dexter Ward

Clue #5: The weapon of choice for Michelangelo, the “orange” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

*Note: If you don’t know the answers, remember that Google is your friend!

Step 2: Buy the book

Once you have the word, pick up a copy of Soul Haven here from Wild Child Publishing. (I promise you will enjoy the story! Feel free to check out the reviews if you don’t want to take my word for it... :-)

Step 3: E-mail your contest entry

Drop me a line at author@swvaughn.com. Forward me the receipt, and add the following information:

* The unscrambled word
* The chapter in which the word first appears
* A sentence about its relevance to the story, or a brief personal statement regarding your feelings about the answer word.
* Your choice of a bonus prize (see below)

That’s it! I’ll choose a winner from all the correct entries I receive. I hope you enjoy the contest!

BONUS! Even if you don’t win the prize package, you still win! Everyone who enters (even if you get the wrong answer) will receive their choice of:

* A free bookmark, mailed to you,
* An exclusive excerpt from my forthcoming novel Broken Angel, or
* A post dedicated to pimping you and your work on my blog (complete with shameless flattery)

A few additional rules

This contest is open to everyone, regardless of location. I will ship prizes internationally!

Entries will be accepted for one month – now through May 17. I will announce the winner on May 18, and all prizes will be sent on that date.

Purchase is required for entry (sorry!)

Those who have previously purchased Soul Haven from Wild Child Publishing ARE eligible to enter the contest, without having to buy another copy.

Chances are that you – yes, you! – will be the only person entering. Six bucks for a prize package with a retail value of $55 ain’t bad, is it?

Hail and Well Met

Hey there!

Thought I'd join my fellow WCP authors and introduce myself. I have a few names. I go by Sonja Baines and S. W. Vaughn, in addition to Sonya, Mommy, and Hey, You. Call me anything you want, and I'll probably answer. :-)

As you've probably guessed, I'm a writer. My first release through Wild Child under the name Sonja Baines, Soul Haven, is available now. The novel is a romantic suspense about a rookie cop who falls for a criminal (whoops... conflict of interest there!). As the author, I'd like to think it's pretty good. ;-) But don't take my word for it... see what Cocktail Reviews has to say!

My other half writes thrillers. I've got a series coming out through Wild Child that I'm very excited about. If you'd like to know more, feel free to visit my S. W. Vaughn site for excerpts and a bunch of other cool stuff.

In a few weeks I'll be announcing a contest, and I hope you'll enter! I've got sweet prizes for the winner. Looking forward to getting to know you and talking about all things writing and reading around here.

I thought I'd take a second to formally introduce myself to you all. My name is Adelle Laudan, some know me as 'Legs'. How did I get that handle? It has something to do with being 6 ' 2 haha! I've signed with Wild Child Publishing to share a little of my Biker Fiction with you all. I've taken the legend of the biker bell and the journey of a biker named Shane to explore the world of the MicMac Indian who live scattered throughout the Appalachian Mountains of Cape Breton. If you visit my website it says, Fabulous Fiction with a tWiSt, this book is no exception.

I'm thrilled to be working with Faith on Iron Horse Rider. I know I'm going to learn so much from her. I can hardly wait to see the cover which ME Ellis and Cover Van come up with. From what I have seen of their work so far, I know it will be phenomenal.

I look forward to meeting some of the incredibly talented Authors at WCP and hopefully make a few friends along the way. I invite you to check out my website if you're so inclined.

Wishing you Miles of SMiles :)
